Affenberg Landskron

At Affenberg Landskron, around 180 Japanese macaques live freely in a 4-hectare natural forest environment. In 2023, it was also voted the most beautiful place in Austria.

Landskron Castle

The Burgruine Landskron is a rock castle dating from the 14th–16th centuries, featuring an active falconry center with daily shows. It also offers a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Ossiach and the Alpine landscape.

Nikolaikirche

The characteristic neo-Gothic church in Villach, connected to the Franciscan monastery. Its impressive architectural style and historic atmosphere make it well worth a visit.

Villach

Villach is the second-largest city in Carinthia. Its historic old town, with charming pedestrian streets, churches, cafés, and boutiques, welcomes visitors and is ideal even for a half-day trip.

Gerlitzen Alpe

The cable car is located approx. 500 m from the hotel. In summer, wonderful mountain hikes and panoramic views await you, while in winter you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding. Ski lessons are also offered for children in winter.

Ossiacher Tauern hiking trail

The trail starts near Burgruine Landskron and follows the Tauern ridge. Along the way you will find the famous Jungfernsprung, a beautiful viewpoint. The hike is approx. 12 km long.

Oswaldiberg viewpoint and hike

The approx. 963 m high nearby peak is located in a natural forest environment near Villach. On clear days, it offers views of Lake Ossiach, Lake Wörthersee and Lake Faaker See, as well as the Alps.

Finsterbach waterfalls

Perfect for a weekend trip, even with children: three small waterfalls (Schleierfall, Kesselfall, Finsterbachfall) can be visited at the foot of the Gerlitzen along an easy hiking trail.

Pyramidenkogel - Maria Wörth

The world’s tallest wooden observation tower stands on the Pyramidenkogel, the highest point of the mountains along the southern shore of Lake Wörthersee. This 100-meter-high, uniquely twisted tower offers from its viewing platform what many consider the most beautiful panorama in Carinthia. It can be reached by elevator, and visitors can also slide down Europe’s highest covered slide.

Ossiacher See cycling path

Classic asphalt cycling route (approx. 28 km): Annenheim → Ossiach → Bodensdorf → Steindorf → back. Mostly lakeside views, suitable for families and beginner cyclists as well.

Gerlitzen downhill mountain bike trail

The trail on Gerlitzen Alpe is a true pro-level route and, with its approx. 4 km length, can challenge even advanced mountain bikers – completing the full PROlitzen trail is demanding even for experienced riders. A highlight is the 1000-meter descent, after which you can jump straight into the lake to cool off.

Villach–Grado cycling route

The unique Ciclovia Alpe-Adria cycling route offers an unforgettable experience. Traveling from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea, you can enjoy a diverse landscape full of contrasts. Starting in Villach, Carinthia, you soon cross the Italian border and cycle partly along former railway lines through the stunning, untouched Friuli Alps. The route passes the picturesque towns of Udine and Palmanova, by the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aquileia, before finally reaching the sea and the long sandy beaches of the famous seaside resort Grado.

Offers further away in Carinthia

Maltatal

In one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in Carinthia, waterfalls line up one after another. At the upper end of the Maltatal, one of Austria’s largest dams, 200 meters high, closes off the valley, surrounded by the three-thousand-meter peaks of the Hohe Tauern. The upper part of the fairy-tale Maltatal can be explored via the scenic toll road Malta Hochalmstraße.

Grossglockner

The Großglockner High Alpine Road, which runs from Fusch an der Großglocknerstraße in the Salzburg region to Heiligenblut am Großglockner on the Carinthian side, is one of Austria’s most famous landmarks and is considered one of the most beautiful excursion and panoramic roads in the world. It is also among the three most visited destinations in Austria. The 48-kilometer-long, mostly high-alpine road blends almost seamlessly into the mountain landscape, leading travelers curve by curve into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Up to the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe at the Großglockner and the Pasterze Glacier, the largest remaining glacier in the Eastern Alps. Majestic peaks, glaciers, green valleys and forests – take a look around and let the mountains amaze you!

Gmünd – Porsche Museum

Europe’s first private Porsche Museum is located in Gmünd, the birthplace of the first car named Porsche (1944–1950). The extensive collection includes 40 exhibits: from the Porsche 356 020 ALU designed and built in Gmünd, to Porsche rally and racing cars, as well as annually changing special exhibitions.
